Will I receive a certificate at the end of the CERTE Course?

Yes, a certificate will be awarded to the CERTE candidates upon successful completion of the course.

Will I be enrolled into a programme in a university after completing this course?

CERTE doesn’t guarantee your acceptance into a University Programme, however, it will equip you with the necessary skills required for tertiary education and further in life.

Are there any Higher Education Institutions that will recognize CERTE certificates?

CERTE is NOT a qualification that is recognised as a formal entry qualification by universities. It does not replace other entry level qualifications such as IGCSEs. However, CERTE does develop the skills that you need to succeed at university, and you are given advice on writing university applications

Is there any assessment or exam involved in order to complete the course?

There’s no formal examination however, you will be assessed based on several deliverables as listed below.

1. Write a CV plus a personal statement

2. Create a group video presentation on Culture and Identity

3. Complete a mock interview with mentor

4. Engage with a course/ MOOC online

5. Complete learning reflection (awareness of strengths and weaknesses)

Can I request to change my mentor? 

Yes, you can share your concerns with the CERTE Team members specifically with Dr Robin Duncan.

Is there a fee for the course? Do I need to make any payment for the certificate?

There’s no fees involved. This course is fully waived (free). You are not required to make payment for the certificate.

Can I share the CERTE materials to others such as my siblings, friends or community members?

The information which you will learn from this course, especially on the available opportunities, you may share with your siblings, friends or community members. However, please do not circulate the materials received from CERTE on any online or offline platform as the material solely iis the property of the CERTE.

Do I have to attend all the online lectures? 

Yes, in order to successfully complete the course, you are required to attend all the sessions. Incase of any emergencies, please inform your mentor and the CERTE Team members immediately. A written letter stating the reason for absenteeism along with the valid proofs should be emailed to the CERTE Team at certebridgecourse@gmail.com within 24 hours of the incident.

Is there an attendance policy?

Yes, according to the attendance policy, it is compulsory for the CERTE candidates to attend all the sessions. Each session day (Saturday) consists of 3 or 4 sessions where attendance for each session will be marked by the Session Leader / CERTE Team member. Missing one or two sessions of the day will result in an overall absenteeism for that particular day. Participants  joining later than 10 minutes will be considered as late.

What happens if I miss a class or two?

Unfortunately, you will not be awarded a certificate for the completion of the CERTE Course. Exceptions for emergency cases only

What kind of cases are considered as emergency cases?

Emergency cases includes the following:

  • UNHCR appointment / interview

  • IOM appointment / interview

  • Hospital appointment 

  • Accident

  • Covid-19 positive 

  • Caught by police / imigration 

Please take note that all of the above-mentioned reasons should be given with the valid proofs and will be reviewed by the CERTE Committee. The committee has the full rights to accept or decline a request. 

What should I do if I can't attend a session?

Please inform your mentor and the CERTE Team members immediately. A written letter stating the reason for absenteeism along with the valid proofs should be emailed to the CERTE Team at certebridgecourse@gmail.com within 24 hours of the incident.

Can my friends attend the CERTE session with me?

No, the course is only for the applicants who have been selected via the application reviewing and interviewing process. In case your friend is interested to join, please encourage him/her to join future CERTE courses
